suicide lane    

noun

• a lane for traffic between lane(s) going in opposite directions; "middle lane". Used for making left turns off of the road, and for vehicles making left turns onto the road prior to merging into the proper lane.

  Pull into the suicide lane. It'll be easier to merge that way.
